AWESOME!!!! I bought this for my 12 year old son with autism and he really likes it. I had programmed a similar type communication board set using Speaking Dynamically Pro a couple of years ago and used it on a Samsung NQ01 or something like that (computer with a touch screen). But this.... THis is SO MUCH MORE PORTABLE! Once you get used to the connections between the different folders, this is a breeze. My only wish is that I could work on the custom stuff on my computer and then transfer to the iPod touch. I think my eyes need the rest. And the Symbolstix graphics are about the right age appropriate for this age group.
Just a few minutes with this app and I see great potential.. but not easy enough to use for the price. To make it really useful for a brother who has expressive aphasia following a stroke I will need to customize the expressions. I cannot see a way to do the typing on the computer and then sync to the app. I can connect to computer, but only for backups. It would be so efficient to do the work on the computer and then sync it to the iPod. Please... it needs a bonjour connection to sync data from the computer. Doing all the data entry on the iPod is painful.
I purchased this application for my son who has Down syndrome and is non-verbal. He already has an AAC (Vantage Lite), but I wanted something with more portability that can easily fit in his or my pocket for outings. The program itself is great for the most part, however the sound from the iPod is far too low to really make it useful. I find it ironic that this program is to help people "talk" who cant, yet its virtualy impossible for a person to hear what is being said!
We purchased this app, with the iPad, in the hopes of simplifying a means of communication for our son. It took some time, but after a little experimentation, we got his phrases and words set up. It needs a little more volume, but it was worth every penny and more to have him able to express his needs.
We bought this app when it first came out and have never been disappointed. Features 1) simple to use, understand and customize. 2) add and delete sets. 3) very customizable add your own pictures or downloaded pictures customize any pictures including the apps pictures to say anything. create sets for any situation example; we have many sets for many different situations like different outings, educational sets, favorite foods/restaurant requests, stories explaining situations such as when we traveled explanations for everything that was going to happen. 4) the possibilities are endless. It can be as simple as teaching the first picture or as complicated as the person using it can handle. 5) my daughter started trying to talk more with this app and encouragement to say what the pictures say. She still is considered mostly nonverbal but she tries to say everything.
I have needed to reinstall this app three times since the last update. There are some great features in the new version but it is very frustrating becuse it is crashing frequently.
This helps our daughter out a great deal, thank you. Please keep up the great work!!
Wonderful app for my child. No issues at all. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to use it n purchase it without even knowing it.
Applicazione completa e personalizzabile ma quando esce la versione con la pronuncia in lingua italiana? Grazie. Complete application and customizable but when it comes out the version with the pronunciation in Italian? Thank you.
I love the app but I have a suggestion. There is a bug that makes the volume turn down in my phone when the app is opened. This makes me have to perform extra steps to turn the volume back up before I speak. Not sure why that happens but it would be great to get it corrected. Great app.
This app is the only truly accessible AAC app for low vision and hard of hearing! Many customization options, parental restrictions, backup and sync options and the best manual & help videos imaginable. You can find the answers to all of your questions on the website. I love that this app will grow/adapt for my sons language development!
I have used this app with hundreds of kids with great success and recommended it to many schools in the past. I have conducted district wide trainings on how to program. This versions programming is not at all intuitive and has lost its ease of use. I myself am frustrated and am finding myself utilizing other communication apps. Sad because this really is the best when it comes to features but now takes a far back seat to those that are more intuitive in programming
This app is wonderful! They have so much support I cant imagine having a hard time using it. Just like with any technology, they update it to make it better! There are webinars that are extremely helpful and Facebook support groups. This app gave my non-verbal son a voice! I have used other voice apps and found none as versatile and easy to use as this one. The customer support is always on top of their emails. If you compare the price to the prices of many voice boxes that can range in the 1000s, its a steal! My son uses this program every day and was able to pick up on it quickly. I love the fact that we can put it on his iPod touch as well and he can keep it in his pocket. I cant say enough good things about this program.
Our 12-yr-old son who is nonverbal has been using P2G for about 2 years. Every update the devs have made have been based on user input. The devs are the most empathetic, caring, responsive group--they will do everything (and I mean virtually everything...they personally respond to questions within minutes) they can to make P2G successful for the user and their caretakers. This latest update is amazing, especially with the real American child voices. If you are a parent with a nonverbal child, you will rejoice at being able to hear your child speak with a voice you could only imagine before this. Dedicate yourself to making P2G a priority to use every day and I believe you will find this app to be a miracle for your child.
Im so sorry to read about the troubles other people experienced with p2g. I dont know if the ipad version is what caused the problems? I currently have it installed in a 1st generation ipad and now in my ipad3 both working properly thus far. My autistic son loves P2G over his novachat10/ prev. Dynavox AAC device! I do too considering the time ive spent customizing devices. Full onscreen customizing is 200% easier than the novachat and dynavox aac devices. Editing is great, i edit on one device and just backup the vocabulary file to my pc through itunes then update it on the other ipad. We go back and forth between both devices while one is charging the other is in use. I love the ease of flow in my sons vocabulary. We went from completely non-verbal to complete sentences in a matter of months!! i must make it clear, this is not a magical solution. We sit and practice often. We have conversations through the device so he learns to form sentences. It takes love, patience, time and practice to teach any child to communicate with any speech device. They catch on pretty quickly though. My son is thriving, he is excited he can finally communicate. The only thing i dislike is that sneaky kids can freely exit the app. There is no kiosk mode or dedicated user setting. (this also prevented my insurance company from purchasing an ipad and p2g over an aac device) If there was a way to password lock the app open and disabling any other ipad use aside from the camera.. this would be a 10 star app! This was the only reason we had to get an aac device for him. It would be a competitive alternative to more expensive aac software thats for sure. (ps. Proloquo people can you also give us an undo button when using editing mode?) none the less, i love what you guys have done with the app. But what i love even more is what you guys have done for my son/ family. Thank you P2G developers! You rock!!
I LOVE this app but, since I downloaded the childs voice its been crashing when I try to open it. Has anyone else has this happen? Im not sure how to explain to my daughter her voice isnt working today. :( I will contact tech support Monday.
For two years, I have been told that proloquo2go will be adding switch scanning access "before the end of this year". Im sick and tired of being told that something else is a higher priority than my son and thousands of other kiddos being able to access this app. We spent a lot of money on it because I was told that it would be switch accessible within months; money that could have paid for medical supplies, therapies, or medical equipment. Its time for assistiveware to follow through on their promises or refund our money!
We paid good money for this app when it first came out, but our special little man will not benefit from it much until the developers add a switch scanning access. We have been patiently waiting. Hopefully they can get the ball rolling with this one!
This app has opened up my sons world. Now he can communicate with the world. I am so grateful for this technology. The online tutorials and support make it accessible for parents and therapists to personalize the vocabulary. I have been very impressed with how the developers listen to parent feedback to improve their product to make it accessible to all and easier to use. Thank you!
